Many questions beg answers from living Lady Goebbels

Even after DMK President and former Chief Minister Kalaignar denied the allegation levelled by an ADMK member in the State Assembly on September 6 that Open Space Reservation (OSR) rules had been violated on the campus of Anna Arivalayam – the party’s headquarters on Anna Salai, with records, and his detailed rebuttal published in almost all dailies on the next day - September 7, the slanderous campaign had not been stopped in the House where meaningful debates are not permitted. Once again the same ‘convert’ ADMK member and another DMDK member vied with each other as to who raised this issue first in the past. Intervening the ADMK Minister had assured them that action would be taken and had stated that Kalaignar had been indulging in ‘Goebbelsian propaganda’ about the property of Anna Arivalayam. In fact it is the ADMK which had been making this baseless slanderous allegation whenever they come to power but dare not take action because their purpose is just to cast aspersion on Kalaignar and DMK.
A Minister of ADMK accusing somebody of indulging in Goebbelsian propaganda is akin to the pot calling the kettle black, because the only political capital invested by their supremo for public life, leaving aside the personal side, is lies and blatant lies uttered with ease and without any moral compunction. Right from her entry into political life in 1982 inducted by MGR till date, whether she is in power or not blatant lies, falsehoods and deceptions were the stocks of her political career.
Kalaignar recently put forward some questions relating to her faux pas in 100 days of her present tenure which had not and will not beget answers from her. There are hundreds of lies that she had reeled off and questions begging answers from Jayalalitha, the living Lady Goebbels, to list a few are:
v In 1986, Jayalalitha presented a silver sceptre to MGR at the conference of All World MGR Fans Mandram in Madurai which was later after she assumed charge of ADMK, historically manipulated as a symbolic gesture of MGR handing over to her his command and legacy and anointing her as heir apparent.
v Was it not a fact that last announcement made by MGR in his capacity as general secretary of his party, was directing his cadre not to have any contact with Jayalalitha, and never rescinded the directive nor gave appointment to her till his death in December 1987?
v Did not she send missives to the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, through Salem Kannan, then MP, complaining that MGR (whom she now calls as ‘deity of her heart’ and mentor) was envious of her and unable to discharge his duties as CM and pleading to the PM to remove him and appoint her as CM?
v Stung by her moves, MGR stripped her of the deputy leadership of the Parliamentary party. Did not she articulate her anger against him in an interview to ‘Saavi’ magazine, “MGR has been a great influence in my life. I don’t deny that. But now I am my own person. I have evolved. Hereafter, I am responsible only for myself. Never again will anybody influence me to such an extent that all my thoughts and actions and statements are influenced and made in a particular way just because someone else wants it that way?”
v After the death of MGR, Jayalalitha alleged that his wife Janaki Ramachandran poisoned him to death. If that was true how did she enter into an agreement with Janaki, reportedly after paying a lump sum, for unification of both factions and getting back the ‘two leaves’ symbol frozen by the EC? Did not she say that she thought of committing ‘sati’ when MGR was died?
v Did not she tell ‘The Indian express’ in an interview in 1990 that the LTTE was the sole militant group in Sri Lanka and charged Kalaignar, when he was seriously engaged in stopping fratricidal wars between the militant groups, that as CM he was not extending sufficient support to Prabhakaran; only to change her stand after assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, and accusing Kalaignar till 2008 of extending sympathy and support for the group?
v She made a hue and cry that she escaped a bid to kill her by ramming a lorry (on the top of which ‘rising sun’ symbol was painted) against her car near Meenambakkam when she was returning from Pondicherry. Was it not a fact that her car driver who was driving for days together dozed and rammed into the lorry?
v When she was admitted in a hospital after the accident, she claimed that she was given temple prasadam (pongal) which she kept in a corner and went to sleep, waking up only to find a cat which took it had died and hence it was an attempt on her life.
v She had no moral compunction to allege that there was an attempt on her modesty just as Draupathi in Mahabharatham and was assaulted in the Assembly in March 1989, when in fact it was she who punched on Kalaignar’s nose that his spectacle slipped down.
v She charged that the original will written by MGR was torn and in the new one they prepared the left hand thumb impression from the body of MGR was taken with the help of a lawyer?
v In a public meeting at Salem she claimed that Moopanar was also instrumental in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi.
v If these were some of the lies, fabrications and concoctions uttered by her in her design to capture the ADMK leadership and then power, she was no better, after elected to power riding on the sympathy wave following the assassination.
v She said she was left with empty treasury and granary by the outgoing DMK regime, but her tenure during 1991-96 was notorious for ostentation and extravaganza besides corruption, the effect of which she is still struggling to come out.
v She claimed and boasted of having secured 200 out of 200 in a subject in Matriculation examination, which was proved to be bogus.
v She had no qualms of accusing the then Governor Channa Reddy of misbehaving with her.
v Having extended support to ‘kar seva’ in New Delhi, she denied having supported it on her return to Tamil Nadu; she issued a statement asking if Ram temple could not be built in India where else could it be?
v She informed, knowing fully well that it was false, that 94 percent of the state’s revenue was spent on the salaries and pensions of government employees. If so where from does she draw funds for all the schemes that she announced?
v She told the State Assembly that the soldiers of armed forces did not at all touch the bodies of those killed in tsunami.
v She told the State Assembly that the Indian Constitution was male chauvinistic and that it had done injustice for women.
v She told in an interview that there was no discussion in the Assembly on former Union Minister Kannappan, then in MDMK. Denying of the daily ‘The Hindu’ published the recorded version.
v She alleged that Krishna water did not at all reach Tamil Nadu.
v She alleged that forest brigand Veerappan was given financial aid on behalf of the government.
v She claimed to have started women self help groups during her regime, whereas they were started in Dharmapuri district during DMK rule in 1989-91.
v In the court trial in TANSI case, on an affidavit she daringly disowned her own signature, proved false by forensic study.
v She claimed that busfares were not at all hiked during her regime from 2001-06 whereas they were raised thrice.
v Having stated in the Budget that there were 55 lakh hectares of wasteland in TN, later denied having said so.
v She claimed of not having extended support to Tmt. Sonia Gandhi to become Prime Minister in 1999. Jaipal Reddy showed to presspersons the letter of support she had given.
v When Chikungunya affected the state in 2006, she concocted a biological fiction, stating that the eggs of the hens which were fed with PDS rice caused the disease and released a list of 200 persons whom she alleged had died of chikungunya. But they were people who died in government hospitals on other diseases. For instance one Venkatachalam died of liver cancer.
The list of her lies run into volumes.
Jayalalitha, while making baseless and wild allegations and lies, does not have the guts to own any of her contentions in statements and invariably adds, ‘…so it is reported…’ ‘…..so speak the people among themselves’ etc., But the media also carry her statements like this. Ultimately all her allegations are nobody’s children. When the self acclaimed ‘enlightened’ media promote this congenital liar, it is no wonder that the hapless innocent people forget the past experience and offer themselves to be duped and betrayed again and again!
