Disastrous Proposal !

There is a Persian proverb which says,
“He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man, follow him.
He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep, wake him.
He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a seeker, guide him.
He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool, shun him.”
There is a fifth category of some elements in the society, who know and know that they know, but still pretend to be not aware of facts and sell lies and blatant lies wrapped in crude jokes and crafty sarcasm. In the language of Thanthai Periyar such fellows in the present days are scoundrels who had to be frowned upon.
Clowns in the courts of Kings were well informed but still they would be entertaining the Kings with their follies. In Tamil Nadu, we have a Chief Minister who takes for granted that she is the Empress seated in Fort St. George and by affinity other than political or ideological, Cho S.Ramaswamy has volunteered himself at her service as the Court Clown of the Empress of Fort St. George.
When he started his magazine aptly named as “Thuglaq’ in early 1970s many in Tamil Nadu were carried away by his ‘ruthless’ sarcasm and criticism and the journal had large circulation. But as years passed by, people had ‘identified’ him and his motivated comments. Now he and his journal have been reduced to a communal and casteist protagonist and his casteist fans club magazine. The annual gatherings he organizes are really mock affairs where whatever he blabbers are dutifully relished by self-proclaimed ‘enlightened’ fans. The BJP took him seriously and nominated him to the Rajya Sabha where he could not sell his idiocy as he does with to his fans club. He ended his term as a big zero but still has the audacity to mock at serious political leaders.
In his annual jamboree on January 16, Cho had propounded a strange formula for the rule in Centre after the Lok Sabha elections in 2014. He wants Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister and wants people to vote for Jayalalitha’s ADMK and make that party strong at the Centre. What a disastrous suggestion for India! First, he seemed to be caught in cross-loyalties to Modi and Jayalalitha, both of whom are dreaming for the same Prime Minister post (whether it is possible or not is immaterial for her) and individually they are extremely egoistic. With just 18 MPs what a havoc Jayalalitha played on the nation in 1998-99 will never get erased from the minds of people of the state and country. If her position is further strengthened that too in the company of her counterpart (not position but person) in Gujarat, as wished by Cho, what fate will befall on the nation is a guess that even an uninformed layman can make.
Cho also claims that he had great regard for former Prime Minister A.B.Vajpayee and in fact he calls him as the best Prime Minister of independent India. Notwithstanding political and ideological differences with him, nobody could doubt the integrity of Vajpayee. It was he, after 13 months of grueling experience with Jayalalitha as an ally of the NDA regime he presided over in 1998-99, who candidly admitted that aligning with her was the worst blunder he had committed in his public life and vouched not to repeat the mistake again in the rest of his life. He also said that the only demand she had been pressurizing all along those 13 months was the withdrawal of criminal cases filed against her and not any other pertaining to the interests of Tamil Nadu. As he did not budge to that blatantly illegal and immoral demand she did not hesitate to pull down his government and thrust yet another general election on the country in one year. Posterity will never willingly pardon her for destabilizing the nation in the pursuit of personal agenda. No one, even with a modicum of interest in the stability of a Central government of this huge country and in the progress of the nation, could suggest a more strengthened Jayalalitha to hold a key position at the Centre. But Cho does it and his ‘fans’ approve!
Coming to Tamil Nadu, the “great political analyst” first spewed his venom on the DMK stating that had become a party for the family. By simple logic if it were so why the daughter of the Party’s supremo suffered more than a year’s imprisonment in an unconnected case. Can Cho or his likes even indirectly suggest the leader exerted pressure on the UPA government to get her release or put forward any condition for the support of DMK to the Centre like Jayalalitha did for Vajpayee regime.
Unlike Cho’s choicest Jayalalitha, the benefits Kalaignar demanded and succeeded in getting for Tamil Nadu when he was not in power and in power in the state are numerous to the envy and complaint of other states, cannot be denied by the likes of Chos, Gurumurthys and Vaidyanathans.
Next, he dares to say in the company of his fans within the protected walls of the venue, that “ as far as the ADMK is concerned it is taking very good efforts to find out solutions for the problems of people. Particularly, in order to find solution to the biggest problem of power shortage, ADMK regime is taking various efforts like expediting new power projects, pressing the Centre to allocate additional space in the Central power corridor and for total allocation of power generated in Kudangulam nuclear power plant etc.,”
If only Cho dares to go to the streets of towns and villages out of Chennai city his safe return back to the city is highly doubtful. It is not that Cho and his fans are not aware of what even layman in the state knows- that power cut at the most was only for 2 to 4 hours a day that too with prior announcement during DMK rule, that the DMK government did not petition the Centre for matters that Jayalalitha was pressing for and finding fault with now, that power cut now had reached unprecedented levels of 16-18 hours a day only due to the inefficiency of Jayalalitha who was trying to pass on the blame to others, the works on southern power connection with the central grid would be completed only in January 2015, that the new power projects expedited by Jayalalitha were started by the DMK government and during her earlier regime she did not start a single project, that she was squarely responsible for the delay in the commissioning of Kudankulam project etc., deliberately lying and misleading people is nothing but mendacious rascalism.
People of Tamil Nadu do not even want Jayalalitha to make any new effort to solve their problems as Cho contends, but only wish that she does not create any new problem and sustain the state of affairs as it prevailed during DMK rule. Besides manifold increase in duration of power cut, law and order situation is in a mess with ever increasing murders, thefts, robberies, rape and other crimes against women, contagious diseases like cholera, dengue and chickungunya taking heavy toll of deaths, crops loss and suicides of farmers, existing industries moving out of the state, hikes in taxes, milk price, bus fares and electricity tariff etc.,
So, the people of Tamil Nadu are wise enough to make decision on their own by their sheer experience and do not at all require the perverse and disastrous counsel of the likes of Cho. He and his fans can mind their own business and in the meanwhile, if possible they can teach her some elementary lessons in decency and culture.         r
