“Let Jayalalitha understand that all cannot be cheated all the time”

Explaining how Jayalalitha interpreted Cauvery River Authority and the awards of the Cauvery River Tribunal and how she gave up the rights of TN on Mullaiperiyar dam, DMK legislative party deputy leader Duraimurugan said that having betrayed the state in all these matters, she could not cheat all for all the time.
Speaking to reporters after all DMK members were evicted from the House, he said that the minister should read out reply for the call attention motion on Karnataka constructing reservoir across Thenpennaiyar and list the actions taken by the government. Instead he was purposely accusing the DMK of betraying on Cauvery and Mullaiperiyar issues.
When he tried to reply, the Speaker refused him permission and let the ministers one after the other to narrate cock and bull stories for over 45 minutes.
When the interim report of the Tribunal was released, Jayalalitha said that it was useless and only if Karnataka obliged and released water we could get it. Moreover, she also betrayed TN and favoured Karnataka by telling the court that the 1924 agreement on Cauvery expired in 1974 itself.
After the interim award was obtained, she enacted a drama of fast and withdrew it after Union Minister V.C.Shukla came and spoke to her about forming a committee but replied to the letter of the Centre only after nine months. She also ridiculed the Cauvery River Authority as ‘toothless wonder’.
Asserting that the DMK could give all details to show who gave up rights of the state in Cauver and Mullaiperiyar issues, Duraimurugan asked, “Who reduced the water level of Mullaiperiyar dam? Who gave up the right for fishing there? Who gave up even the right to security arrangements of the dam? Thus having given up all rights they are making tall claims. If we were given permission, we could have unmasked the ADMK with all details. But they had refused to allow us to speak and evicted us. They could cheat some people for some time, but not all at all the times. The ministers do not know any details and do not listen when they are explained”, he added.
