Stating that ‘Daily Thanthi’ proprietor Sivanthi Adityan, who passed away on April 19 was one of his closest friends, DMK President Kalaignar conveyed his deep condolences to his son Balasubramanian and other family members, friends, comrades working in his institutions including ‘Daily Thanthi’, and particularly to the people of that community who very much trusted him.
In his condolence message, Kalaignar said the news of the demise of ‘Daily Thanthi’ proprietor and former President of Indian Olympic Association Dr.B.Sivanthi Adityan caused added grief to the demise of LPF President C.Kuppusamy.
Sivanthi Adityan was the younger son of S.B.Adityanar, who founded “Nam Tamilar Movement” in Tamil Nadu and strove for Tamil and Tamils, who created aspiration among common men to read newspapers and learn news, served as Speaker of the Assembly when DMK government was formed under the leadership of Anna in 1967 and later as Co-operation and Agriculture Minister in the Cabinet led by him in 1969 after Anna’s demise, Kalaignar said.
Whether he was in power or not, Sivanthi Adityan used to meet him regularly once in 15 days and discuss with him about political situation in India and Tamil Nadu and about his own personal and family life. On learning that he was admitted in hospital, he sent famous Dr.Devaraj to visit him (Sivanthi) and enquire and whether he could also visit him. He also deputed Treasure Thalapthi M.K.Stalin to see and apprise him. As he was in a state of unconsciousness and none permitted to visit , Kalaignar said he could not go to the hospital to see him.
